a saddle

Once upon a time, there was a CGBC church camp,
Where we met under the glow of gymnasium bulb lamps.
Well on the first day, was a game of family feud,
Everyone was excited and in a great mood.

"Name something people wear," asked our groomsman Syd,
"A saddle," said Brian, an answer that earned him no quid.
We all had a good chuckle and enjoy our fellowship time,
But thinking back to his answer, I penned this saddle-themed rhyme.

What could it mean to wear a saddle?
To be a noble stead and ready for battle?
To defend his new wife, no matter the cost?
A labor of sacrifice, like Christ on the cross.

I remember the day, on the courts of Kennedy High,
A Brian Wong who came launching, three-pointers that could fly!
But when the game was over, a conversation begun,
Finding Brian at 6656 Park Riviera on Sunday, where his life first had been won.

Brian loved his new fellowship, the brothers and sisters of CAT.
On Sundays at 10am, saddled to the second and third row all of us sat.
Through CAT Brian led faithfully, especially on core,
Along with Lorraine, getting to know each other more.

Then saddling the cost of time away from work,
Last summer Brian traveled to China, where the Gospel only lurked.
Lorraine went too, so what can I say,
Their hearts grew fonder for each another, day by serving day.

Now I want you to know, Brian wears but one saddle,
He knows who’s his Master, may his faith never be rattled.
As God as his guide, he remains trustworthy and true,
And thus bringing joy to God's family, from Lorraine to all of you.
